A Time to Remember

Hey, friend. ♥ Do you participate in the annual One-Word shenanigans? You know, where a single word is chosen to represent a focus for the year? I’ve been on the One-Word Train for a while now. The last few years, God’s surprised me with words I haven’t always understood, or known how to implement. And, honestly, I like it better…

Be (Un)impressive

New years rarely come in gently, do they? Like toddlers in a toy-store they charge in, carrying resolutions and dreams bigger than their britches. Fresh beginnings, inspiring and heavy with promise—but often heavy, too, with fear. Fear of failure, of inadequacy, of not being enough for the dreams we’ve dared to wish upon a newborn year. So much weight on…

The Weight of the Wait

Shuffling through my small Kentucky kitchen, I flipped the calendar page. October 2008 — new month of the year, same cry of my heart. Time was younger then, and so were we. We’d moved a lot, and while I believe those years of wandering were part of God’s plan, I longed to feel at home…somewhere. We’d had happy times; there…

Heaven’s Boy

Do you ever think about Jesus’ mother? Her courage, grace, strength—her faith. Mary is one of the many people I look forward to meeting in eternity. Before the Holy Spirit lived inside us all, she housed the Lord inside her womb—growing the baby Savior in secret. I picture her face as He took His first steps—bright eyes beaming with joy…

Dayspring

Dayspring. An interesting word, don’t you think? Poetic and gentle—yet, strong and full of power. Out of curiosity, I looked up this word: day·spring [dey-spring] noun, Archaic. dawn; daybreak. That’s pretty. But “archaic?” Hmm. I suppose the terminology is archaic, but… The  Dayspring—the One who is the Hope of the earth—He’s timeless. Brings new life to the familiar carol lyrics: …

Dear friend, are you living in a season of hope up Dear friend, are you living in a season of hope upon hope? If so, I understand. 💗
.
The relentlessness of some seasons has a way of tethering our threadbare hearts to hope.
.
Unlike other holy hallmarks, sometimes hope can feel hard to define. 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 feels wild and strong; 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩, grounded and secure. Yet, hope can seem wistful, intangible.
.
But, more and more I'm realizing that even though hope seems an elegant mystery—Hope is a force unto itself.
.
In today's Proverbs 31 Ministries devotion, 𝘏𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴, I share how God meets us inside this beautiful mystery of hope with all of Himself. His power has not lost its authority. 🙌
.
Dear friend, I'm here alongside you as together we hold hope inside the lingering heavy seasons of life. 💗
.
You can read and join the conversation today at Proverbs31. org . Would love to hear from you, friend. 💕

The neon numbers on my nightstand clock insisted i The neon numbers on my nightstand clock insisted it was midnight, yet it may as well have been midday as far as my active mind was concerned.
.
Weariness swept my spirit as the enemy nagged notions of angst. 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥, 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘦 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘶𝘱 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵? I begged softly into the night.
.
Turns out, trying to fill every moment of opportunity can leave you feeling empty of rest.
.
Dear friend, can you relate to being in that place of striving to do it all, lest you miss out on something meaningful, while quietly feeling weary and worn?
.
We often hear the acronym FOMO—the “fear of missing out.” But what a lullaby it would sing to our weary spirits, if instead we embraced a different kind of FOMO—the “freedom of missing out.” 🙌
.
You can read the full devotion live today at Proverbs 31 Ministries! ✨

I’d love to hear your story, friend. Have you ever felt similarly? 💕
